GAL Parent Workshop at Thomas Johnson HI Families, A couple months ago, I came up with the idea of hosting a series of GAL Parent Sessions. I reached out to TJ and Fed Hill and they were on board! The first of the series will be held at Thomas Johnson on Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:00pm. This workshop is targeting for all parents and not just for students of GAL students. Everyone is welcome to come learn and grow! I am very sorry for the delay on sending this out. I have had the flyer for awhile, but neglected to send it out as I have been avoided sending out too many items at a time as I know it can be overwhelming. When we launch Bloomz in the coming weeks, it will be much easier to send as you will be able to control the frequency and mode of the message delivery. Please RSVP by sending an email to the address outlined on the attached flyer. CB View File (PDF)

Illness-Sending Students to School Hi Families, I hope that you are all having a great start to your week! There has been an uptick of illness across FSK and I hear that it is happening across more schools in the area. This has ranged from the stomach bug to common colds and the flu. I want to remind everyone that students are supposed to be 24 hours removed from having a fever before returning to school. We have had several students coming to school sick with a fever and/or recently throwing up that puts everyone else at risk. I have included an attachment that outlines "When to Send Your Child to School' that I hope you find helpful. Thank you in advance for ensuring that we are keeping everyone free and clear of illness! FSK Summer Offerings Hi Families, I hope you are all enjoying the day! In hopes that a Summer Schedule would help with planning, I am attaching the 18-19 FSK Summer Offerings Schedule. With it being only February, there may be some changes along the way. My strong feeling is that the changes would be limited and that slight changes to dates and times would be the only move. I will continue to entertain additional programming to offer a wonderful menu of options! If you have questions, please reach out directly to the person in charge of the program. I hope this helps :) CB View File (MS WORD)

Digital Harbor Foundation 6-8 Grade Students Hi, I had a great conversation with the Digital Harbor Foundation today in an attempt to spread the word on all of the great programs that they have to offer students across a range of ages. We will be giving the attached programming sheets to our Middle School next week, but I wanted to share. The great news is that you can register via text and it is "pay what you can"! That could be a few dollars or the full $750 that the camp actually costs! I will be sharing more information about the Elementary Program once I receive the documents. If you have questions about programming, please reach out to DHF directly. Thanks, CB View File (PDF)
Early elementary pre-registration form Please use this form to pre-register for pre-k and/or kindergarten beginning Friday 2/1 and Saturday 2/2. It also links to other documents needed. Copies of this form are available in the lobby, and on our website wearefsk.org Current pre-k families do NOT need to pre-register for next year's kindergarten - just fill out the Intent To Return survey instead: https://docs... Otherwise, kindergarten enrollment is guaranteed for in-zone students, and rolling for prospective out-of-zone students (strong preference is given to those who pre-register on 2/1 or 2/2). Thanks! Anne (PTO Board member) View File (PDF)

NEW Parent Observation Protocol Hi Families, Due to testing schedules, planned classroom activities, and safety/security protocols, parents who would like to observe their child must email the request to Mr. Basmajian, Mrs. Pitts and the classroom teacher at least 24 Hour in advance. This request should include the requested date of visit, time, and reason for visit. Unless otherwise agreed upon, observations are limited to 20 minutes. Head Lice Protocol Good Morning Families, I hope you are all enjoying your Friday! Please find the FSK Head Lice Protocol below with an attachment from the City of Baltimore. Head Lice Protocol: 1. If a teacher suspects Head Lice, please send the student to the nurse. 2. The nurse will inspect the student. If no Head Lice/eggs are present, the student will return to class. 3. If the nurse finds eggs or Head Lice, they will contact the home and alert the parent that their child has lice. The Nurse will ask the parent if they are able to pick up the student so that other students are not exposed. If the parent is unable to pick the student up, the student will NOT be sent back to class for the rest of the day. The child will stay in the nurse's area or somewhere in the main office. The student may return briefly to gather their belongings and the teacher should supply work for the student. 4. When the child returns, the nurse will re-examine the student. If "lice-free", they will be back to class as normal. If not "lice-free", we will revert back to step #3. *Please note that the nurse makes the determination of Head Lice/Eggs* **If you ever want the entire class checked, please alert the nurse** Thank you, CB View File (PDF)
